Today, I have gathered some courage to share an entry from my Journal. It was a realization that I have had recently, based on my personal growth and from the observation of great personalities I learn from and follow. Not a generalization, but most people are in either of the three stages or go through the following stages of growth, development and transformation.
The Sheep (The Child)
When we are younger, we want to be like others. As a kid, we want to eat, talk and wear like everybody else. We want to appear similar, ordinary or common.
Majority of these children carry on their herd behavior and mentality of following the mass throughout their adult life. They grow up to become average and ordinary adults thinking, talking and acting like every Nima, Dawa & Karma. They play it safe and small. They remain in their comfort zones. They prefer security over freedom. So, their lives are driven by fear & greed, without fully realizing their potential. They live a life of mere chances believing in luck. They succumb to their fate. They are the followers. They follow cultures and masses without any reason or logic.
The Wolf (The Uncle)
Some of the intelligent Sheep-like characters under the right influence, realization and nurturing will deviate from the flock. They will grow into passionate young adults; who want to be independent, free and different. They want to stand out of the rest. They’ll become the lone wolves. They will get tired of the monotonous life. They will pursue their passion or calling. He or she will redefine his or her identity. They will live by their own choices. They will become logical to get ahead in life.
However, if they are not able to keep their passion alive or realize their full potential, these lone wolves will grow up into selfish, egocentric, rich but unsatisfied, and tyrannical adults. They will grow into intelligent and passionate, but lonesome and heartless people pursuing fame and money. Some of them will grow up to become wolves in sheep’s clothing. If it doesn’t go their way, they will cheat, lie and rebel. They’ll become toxic and evil.
They are like the rich uncle of yours, of whose money you only get to hear but can’t see.
The Lion (The Mother)
Minority of those lone wolves under the right influence & mentorship, with courage and wisdom will seek the path to greatness or excellence. He or she will not limit his quest to self. They will change their passion into purpose. They’ll align their personal purpose/gift/talent with the universal virtues/truth/cause. They will master self and excel in their art/craft/gift. They are the leaders - the Lions. They’ll change lives and shift cultures. They’ll put people or others first. They’ll sacrifice self in the service of others. He or she will seek nothing but give, serve, share, lead and love.
They are like the mothers who would sacrifice anything for her family.
If you’re the sheep, do more of what you love to do or get closer to people you love. If you’re the wolf, master self and excel in your art/craft/gift. Seek mentors or follow the path of the greats. If you’re the Lion, lead & serve others.
There is a saying, which goes something like: Have the heart of your mother to utilize the wealth of your uncle, to live, love, share and serve like a child.
I’m kidding. I just made that up. But I hope you follow your heart, use your mind and reach out your helping hands.
Thank you so much. Leave your thoughts in the comment section. Do like and share if you can resonate with my realization.
Happy Sunday!
